    Objective: The Cellar Operator’s primary objectives are be a positive team player and to ensure all Oakshire beer is fermented, aged, and packaged in a clean and consistent manner, adhering to Oakshire’s high quality standards.

    Duties and Responsibilities: The Cellar Operator position reports to Oakshire’s Lead Brewer, will focus a majority of his or her time on cellar-related duties, but will also perform duties and responsibilities related to Brewing and QA/QC & Packaging:

    Cellar related tasks and duties:
    • Monitor and manage fermentation , including taking and documenting daily readings.
    • Perform vessel CIP.
    • Perform tank transfers.
    • Adjust tank temperatures.
    • Produce cold water extract coffee.
    • Perform dryhopping.
    • Carbonate finished beer.
    • General cellar cleaning.

    QA/QC & Packaging related tasks and duties:
    • Assisting in QA/QC program, packaging and conducting routine QC protocols.
    • Assist on the packaging lines, including bottling, canning and kegging of beer.
    • Research and lab work.
    • General QA/QC & packaging cleaning.

    Brewing related tasks and duties:
    • Milling and grain handling
    • Wort production
    • General brewhouse cleaning.

    Additional responsibilities as assigned by Oakshire’s Lead Brewer

    Required Skills
    • Unwavering positive attitude and commitment to making, cellaring and packaging the highest quality beer.

    • Exceptional verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to efficiently manage competing priorities throughout the day while minimizing transition time between tasks.
    • Ability to learn and follow comprehensive hazard and safety programs.
    • Ability to recognize maintenance issues.
    • Mechanical skills sufficient to diagnose and correct small maintenance issues.
    • Working knowledge of raw materials, beer recipe design, and raw material performance throughout the brewing process.
    • Working knowledge of basic brewing and cellaring sciences.
    • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including day, swing or night shifts.

    Required Minimum Qualifications & Experience
    • Professional training and certificate at a recognized institution and/or a minimum of 1 years of experience in a production brewery or large brewpub.
    • Laboratory and QA/QC experience.
    • Forklift certification or ability to obtain on the job.
    • Experience participating in a sensory panel.

    Physical Demands
    The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee in the position described to perform the position’s essential functions.     • Frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk and hear, and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
    • Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds and move kegs which may weigh up to 165 pounds using traditional lifting methods.
    • Ability to be frequently exposed to wet conditions, strong and sometimes disagreeable odors and occasionally caustic chemicals.
    • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts, to work in a moderate noise level using hearing protection, and to work in a cold environment.

    Compensation and Benefits:
    Oakshire Brewing offers competitive wages consistent with experience level and industry standards- this position will earn between $12.00 and $14.50 per hour, dependent on experience and demonstrated aptitude
