  • Head Brewer Position - Phoenix Arizona

    Mother Bunch Brewing, a Brew Pub in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a qualified Head Brewer to manage the brewing facilities and process beer according to set company recipes and creative licensing with special knowledge of technique. Supervises all training of assistant brewers, sanitation and safety procedures, while promoting beer through marketing and brewery functions. The head brewer will lead recipe formulation, yeast management, ordering supplies, coordinating distribution, etc.
    Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Perform daily duties including but not limited to: CIP, Grain Milling, Operating Brew House, Wort Transfers, Yeast Pitching. Fermentation Monitoring,Filtration, General Cleaning, and Beer tasting.
    • Maintain batch data sheets for brew and cellaring.
    • Prepare and submit all required documentation for TTB and local authorities.
    • Prepare brewery operation cost analysis and maintain cost per bbl to improve brewhouse efficiency and increase production volumes.
    • Collection of QC/QA data.
    • Train and coach all staff, including FOH staff.
    • Manage cellar, assistant brewer and production schedule.
    • Assisting in the execution and evolution of brewhouse and safety SOPs
    • Perform minor maintenance tasks to ensure a smooth work schedule.
    • Monitor and maintain essential facilities in good working order and in a clean and sanitary condition.
    • Establish and follow standard procedures for cleaning and sanitizing.
    • Establish and follow standard for safe operations of all equipment.
    • Provide a safe and clean environment for brewery tours, events and fellow employees.
    • Complete OSHA required training and OSHA required polices.
    • Monitor inventory of brewing and lab supplies.
    • Submit weekly schedule for self and assistant brewer and include tasks to be accomplished and production schedule each week.
    • Attend both on & off site festival work, and make account visits, pick-ups and deliveries all in a professional manner.
    Skills:
    • Knowledge of all of the following-fermentation theory/practice, biochemical/chemical changes in product from raw materials to finished product, bitterness,color and alcohol percentage assays.
    • Desire to learn more about brewing theory and technology
    • Ability to continuously lift 55lbs or more, and move up to 165lbs
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
    • Interact with all staff, vendors and customers in a professional manner at all times.
    • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule when necessary
