  • frozen pressure gauge on brite tank?

After cold cleaning (with acid6) our brites in the walk-in and transferring a new batch to carbonate, on several occasions the pressure gauges on the CIP arms start to rise well beyond the level of any CO2 coming in through the carb stone. For example, it can shoot up 20,25psi (when the stone is set for 18). It coincides with fluctuations in the cold room that drop the temp below 32. The remedy to see WTF the pressure in the headspace really is, is I pour hot water over the T where the gauge is attached. The gauge then returns to whatever it should be and usually doesn't do that again. Is this happening to anyone else?

I'm thinking of wrapping pipe insulation around it, but not sure that would fix it. Cooler temp is set for ~ 35 but does fluctuate with defrost cycles -- the range is ~30 to 40.
