  • R/O water storage and handling

For those of you using R/O systems:

    1. What kind of tank are you storing your R/O water in? Are you storing it separately from your CLT?
    2. How did you size the tank (i.e. 2x size of your brewhouse)?
    3. From where did you source the tank?
    4. At which point are you adding back salts, and what precautions are you taking to prevent corrosion on any other components (pumps, boiler, etc.)?

    Filter directly into our CLT.

1,000 gallon (32bbl) CLT for a 20 bbl brewhouse. We will need a larger CLT & HLT to double batch. 2.5-3x brewhouse would be comfortable for HLT & CLT. Since RO systems can take a long time to fill your tank a separate holding tank would allow you to refill the CLT immediately.

US Water Systems. Happy with the unit. Happy with the service.

Salts go back in the mash and kettle. Everything downstream of that is stainless of course. We do nothing to prevent leaching from the few steel parts in the water system - hadn't thought about that until now. (-:
