Job Title: Assistant Brewer Status: Non-Exempt
Job Reports to: Brew Master

Job Summary:
Assist in brewing and bottling of beer to specific recipes while observing all sanitation and safety procedures. Promotes Tonopah Brewing Co. through marketing and restaurant duties. Performs administrative duties of brew house including compliance reporting, inventory movements and purchasing/receiving recordkeeping.
Essential Job Duties:
Maintain accurate and timely brewery, state and federal compliance, inventory, brew sheet and accounting paperwork.
Clean, sanitize all equipment, tanks and work areas to maintain consistent beer quality.
Operate brew house equipment and bottling line to maintain acceptable inventory of raw materials and beer.
Receive and process raw materials, gather and weigh out hops and malts and otherwise stage brewing ingredients to keep production running smooth and all beers at optimal quality level.
Assist Brewmaster to establish written SOPs.
Participate in customer relations, events, and marketing as required.
Support direct to consumer effort by working in brew pub as needed. Train pub staff in beer knowledge.
Must be willing to perform any/all other duties as required for a small start-up brewery.

Job Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, with a certificate or other advanced education in the brewing process. A degree in Fermentation Sciences is preferred.
Work experience in a similar or related field is preferred.
Must use Excel, Word, database or other computer programs for brewery functions.
Fundamental knowledge of plumbing and machinery mechanics/maintenance.
Basic laboratory knowledge is preferred.
Physical Requirements – The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 lbs. and be able to move kegs which weigh close to 120 lbs. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, use tools or controls, climb and balance, stoop/kneel/crouch, and sit at desk.
