Hi all! Is anyone out there using a Sartorius weighing scales to calculate fill volume?
We use a system made up of a Sartorius weighing platform/scales (model IS6 series) connected to a Sartorius controller (Sartorius Combics 3) and a printer for the read outs. We weigh a sample of filled bottles and the system estimates the volume based on preprogrammed densities.
It's a good system as long as packaged product specific gravities are constant. Unfortunately, we have updated our products and changed the recipes and have started contract packaging for other people so we need to reprogramme the controller. Alas the controller was initially programmed by a former colleague who has left the company and taken his knowledge and expertise with him. We have the instruction manuals etc but they might as well have been written in Swahili for all the sense they make.
Has anyone any previous experience with Sartorius scales they could offer? (The agents for the manufacturer want to charge 784 euros per day as a call out fee, which is prohibitively expensive.)
