  • We have our brewers notice ....now what?

So we received our brewer's notice last week, our build out is almost complete and our brewhouse and tanks should be going in sometime next month. I remember reading somewhere that once the brewer's notice is issued you had 90 days to get started. Is this correct? And if so when do we start filling out the brewers form for reporting? Our plane is to do this sheet monthly for tracking and then file quarterly. Honestly, the TTB went through our paperwork so fast (41 days) that we are now working fast to finish our build out so we can get our state inspection and start production. Thanks for any guidance you all can provide. Off to hang sheetrock.....

In regards to reports, the answer is as soon as you have your notice. You will have to file quarterly reports and pay excise to TTB starting from the day your notice is approved, regardless of whether you are brewing or not. If you received it last week then you will have to file an operations report for the second quarter in order to show that you produced no beer and owe no tax.

Of course you can't do that until you get set-up for TTB online and pay.gov....which I recommend you do ASAP as it will take a few weeks to get setup.
