The lead shift brewer works under the head brewer to oversee and participate in all brewing activities. They are responsible for staff scheduling, training, wort production, reporting and quality assurance, as well as coordinating with the cellar team and production planning.
Requirements/Skills:
• Good practical knowledge of brewing process from grain to package
• Minimum 1 year experience on 10bbl (or greater) brewhouse
• Complete proficiency in all aspects of cellaring
• Very good practical knowledge of CIP and SIP procedures
• Ability to lift 60 lbs over shoulders and work safely in extreme conditions
• Good record keeping
• Ability to perform general maintenance on brewing equipment
• Flexible schedule is a must
• Motivated to lead others
Duties/Expectations:
• Quality wort production up to 5 days in a week
• Coordinate with Head Brewer in scheduling brew staff
• Responsible for creating all brew-sheets, ensuring proper efficiencies to hit target ABV
• Review all brew-sheets to ensure brewers are hitting targets and maintaining good record keeping
• Evaluate any continued education and/or training necessary for all brewers
• Coordinate with farmers to take spent grain
• Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure delivery of grist
• Assist with maintenance of all brewing equipment
• Ensure good communication between Head Brewer, Head Cellerman, and all shift brewers
