    THREE (3) OPEN POSITIONS

    JOB TITLE: Technical Brewer
    LOCATION: Brewery, Comstock, MI
    REPORTS TO: Beer Production PI Manager
    POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Hourly
    SHIFT: Day Shift with some off shift work required
    EXTERNAL POSTING DATES: 11/09/2015- 11/29/2015

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Technical Brewer will be members of the Beer Production Process Improvement team with responsibilities predominantly focusing on new and process improvement projects in beer production. Tasks include project management, analyzing data and implementing continuous improvement actions. Technical Brewers will work closely with the Beer Production teams to enhance and implement quality and efficiency initiatives.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    •Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery, Inc.
    •Works closely with the Beer Production PI Manager and Beer Production.
    •Completes Process Improvement projects as assigned.
    •Leads and assists with troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis of Beer Production issues.
    •Actively encourages a continuous improvement culture by implementing and updating Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
    •Analyzes Beer Production data and formulate action plans based on the data.
    •Assists with the installation of new equipment and systems, as needed.
    •Assists in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that upholds Bell’s quality standards in all areas of Beer Production.
    •Assists with new hire and task development job training for Brewers.

    Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

    •None

    MATERIALS/MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:
    •Computer and other process automation systems.
    •Brewing raw materials.
    •Cleaning and Sanitizing Chemicals
    •Pumps, hoses, valves, clamps, gaskets, and other brewery equipment
    •Fork lift/aerial lift truck.
    •Compressed air or other gasses, including CO2.

    IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    •Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards.
    •Advanced PC skills to include Microsoft Office (Excel, Work and PowerPoint).
    •Excellent attention to detail.
    •Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with a troubleshoot equipment.
    •Ability to manage multiple processes at one time.
    •A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
    •Exceptional time management skills with a proven ability to plan, organize and prioritize work load to balance multiple projects.
    •Ability to coordinate with other departments according to schedule.
    •Ability to effectively communicate with staff throughout the brewery.
    •Ability and willingness to maintain flexible work schedule, as weekend, shift work and extended workdays are necessary.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
    •Extensive experience in a production brewery and enthusiasm for craft beer and a commitment to quality.
    •Outstanding communication and problem solving skills.
    •Project management experience.
    •Experience collecting and interpreting data.
    •A brewing, science, engineering or similar education background is preferred.

    •Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
    •Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
    •Must be able to participate in critical assessment of beers.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
    •The work environment is usually that of a brewery.
    •The employee regularly works with hazardous materials.
    •The employee works on wet floors and with wet equipment.
    •The employee regularly works around high voltage, hot water, and steam.
    •The employee frequently must work in a sanitary environment.
