  • A-system (German style?) keg cleaning

I have been to trying to clean A system kegs by reverse flushing, with a DIY flushing set up, but the flow rate is really, really slow. It takes a couple minutes to drain a keg, but after the liquid is emptied, the CO2 will blast out nicely. It seems like the gas-in is too restrictive to pass liquid quickly.

The pump is strong enough (5T/hour, 750W), both check valves have been removed from the coupler and the suction hose is not collapsing (I keep the system pressurized with CO2). I also know that the beer out flows well - if I operate by valves wrong I get a sanitizer shower.

As far as I can tell, the problem is in the plunger-gasket contact: the plunger pushes the gasket down onto the spear, and only the iittle slots in the gaskets allow some flow.

I'm tempted to cut some material out of the gasket to improve flow, but I think it won't get pushed down enough to seal. Is there a special coupler or gasket used in a real A-system keg washer? Anybody have other solutions?
