  • 12oz 6 pack mother cartons?

Anyone use standard beer flats for packaging 12oz 6 pack cases? Not really seeing an issue doing it. The beers will be in the 6 pack carriers just using the flat to ship and carry more then anything. Just wanted to see what others think. Thanks

By "flat" I assume you mean the "tray." A pallet of bottles in their 6 pack carriers in a tray would be very unstable, especially in the truck from the brewery to the distributor. You could get around that issue by shrink wrapping the pallet, but then you have to consider what the case goes through on its way from the D warehouse to the shelf. It will be palletized with other packages by the distributor for delivery to the account. It will be handled by the warehouse package loader (not the correct term) who builds the pallet at the distributor, the delivery driver and the account merchandiser at the least. It will be stacked and re-stacked in the back room of the store on a pallet of multiple products carried by the distributor and often will be difficult to reach by the merchandiser or the salesman (who needs to pull apart the pallet for inventory/ordering protocols.) Your package of 6 pack bottles in a can tray will be difficult to handle and will certainly get damaged. Worse, you will make a lot of enemies by those who have to handle it.
