    Ser Bhum Brewery in the Capital city of THIMPHU, BHUTAN in the beautiful Himalayas is looking for a Head Brewer to lead and to manage the day-to-day operations of its brand new, state of the art 20 BBL Craft Brewery with a tasting room in its brand new building.

    The Brewery will be fully commissioned in the Spring, 2016 and tested by an expert brewing team, and the Head Brewer shall participate in the commissioning.

    Three initial recipes have been developed for the Brewery first three products which are described on the above website.

    This is a full-time, one-year assignment with a potential option to renew or extend the contract.

    Applicants should be available to start by February or March, 2016. Salary is negotiable.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operating brewhouse, producing batches from start to finish with the expected volume, quality, safety and cost metrics
    • Training of Brewery production stuff
    • Yeast handling management and cellaring duties including fermentation management
    • CIP (clean-in-place) of brewing and fermentation tanks, and other equipment
    • Logging of all brewing related notes from brew day through fermentation, finishing, and packaging
    • Following SOP (standard operating procedure) in each phase of brewing, fermentation, and packaging
    • Maintaining clean brewing practices in the brewhouse
    • Executing preventative maintenance on all brewhouse equipment
    • Monitoring raw material inventory

    PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • experience in a commercial production brewery or high-volume brew pub
    • A strong passion for brewing beers as well as the desire to push the boundaries of experimental brewing
    • An advanced understanding of all aspects of brewing including cellaring, yeast handling, CIP, and sanitization
    • Strong organizational habits, a self-motivated work ethic, and good critical thinking/problem solving skills
    • Computer literate with an understanding of Microsoft Office/spreadsheet programs
    • Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team
    • An understanding of quality assurance (QA) methods and techniques, laboratory operations, and basic knowledge of chemistry and biology
    • Prior packaging, bottling, and racking experience
    • Mechanical experience and aptitude; and attention to detail
    • Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities
    • Communicate well with and help out fellow team members in any way necessary
    • Lead by example and represent the Brewery positively and responsibly at all times
    • Keep accurate records throughout the shift

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to work on your feet for 10 hours
    • Must be able to work in hot, wet, and loud environment
    • Must be able to work with and around steam, electricity and potentially hazardous chemicals and solvents
    • Continual moving, lifting, and manipulation of hoses, buckets, pumps, and other parts that require extended standing, lifting, crouching, and walking
    • Ability to frequently sit, stand, bend, walk, lift, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
    • Heavy physical work including climbing stairs, climbing into tanks, pulling hoses, etc.
    • Willing to work in wet, hot and cold conditions
    • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. and push or pull 160 lbs.
