If resort living in a Lake Michigan community sounds good, we have just the position for you. Our brewery is housed in a Civil War era church and is walking distance to Lake Michigan. We are seeking a Master Brewer to lead our team to develop new beers and ensure the highest quality of our offerings. We are a boutique brewery where beer is our flagship product, and this is the first of our many planned locations. We plan to feature many styles of beer with an emphasis on strong hoppy west-coast style IPAs.
This is a start-up opportunity that you can pour your passion into and imprint your style on. In addition, we have plans for expansion to other cities, states, and possible international locations—all of which our Master Brewer will help launch and oversee. Our Master Brewer will be responsible for all aspects of the brewing process, including brewing, fermentation, cellar work, ordering supplies, cleaning, and keeping up with state and federal recording and reporting requirements.
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years brewing experience
• Strong experience and comfort developing big beers and especially west-coast style IPAs
• Experience ordering ingredients and supplies
• Experience with budgets and inventory
• Quality control experience
• Strong cleaning and sanitizing skills
• Mechanical ability
• Flexible schedule ability
• Ability to regularly lift up to 65 pounds
Preferred:
• Formal brewing education, such as a bachelor of science degree, certification, or graduation from an accredited brewing training institution
• Laboratory knowledge and experience
• Proven recipe design experience
