ABOUT US:
Aloha All! Ever dream about brewing in paradise? Well here is your chance. Honolulu BeerWorks is a Brewer-owned brewpub located in Kaka`ako, an emerging epicenter for Hawaii’s urban-island culture. We have a 7bbl brewhouse with a current output of 1200 barrels year. We are in the middle of expansion construction and plan to grow to 4500 bbls per year. By mid-year we will be packaging and distributing island wide. HBW is looking for a passionate and innovative brewer to create unique, delicious beers while having fun and becoming part of our HBW ohana.
PREFERRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
-3 years brewing experience
-Brewing Education preferred but not required
-Recipe formulation
-Barrel aging
-Cask conditioning
-Packaging, canning, bottling line knowledge
-Substantial brewhouse/wort production experience, preferably in both a production brewery and brewpub environment
-Extensive sensory training and experience with recipe development and refinement
-Substantial experience with cellar and packaging operations in both pub and production settings, including tank CIPs and transfers
-Basic laboratory skills including microscopy (cell counts), titrations, and yeast propagation techniques
-Mechanical aptitude—must have skills with basic brewery equipment troubleshooting and repair
-Ability to follow SOPs
-Strong ability to multi-task
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Manage all operations of the brewery
-Detailed record keeping and quality control reporting
-Ability to maintain inventories of raw and finished goods
-Cellar work, including fermenter/bright tank CIP, beer transfer, packaging, etc.
-Wort production
-Dry hop tanks
-TTB tax and production filings
-Use proper operating, cleaning and preventative maintenance procedures
-Help develop and refine brewery-wide SOPs, particularly with an eye to improving consistency in brewhouse output
-Develop and brew new and current recipes
-Create a harmonious team environment with all staff
-Mentor and train less experienced brewers in the cellar and brewhouse
-Participate in festivals and promotional events
-Public tours, education, tastings and interaction with brewery guests
-Assist in future planning for growth
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Ability to lift at least 60 pounds and move 165 pounds safely
-Ability to work in a wet environment with humidity, steam and heat
-Ability to bend, twist, kneel, and climb stairs frequently
-Manual dexterity
-Endurance to work a 10-12 hour shift on foot
