Crooked Hammock Brewery opened in October 2015. We’re a brewpub with open air dining, a large deck and backyard. We celebrate the beach life, craft beer, and the spirit of the backyard cookout. We keep things casual and professional. We run a 7bbl brewhouse and plan on producing about 1200bbl of beer this year. We are expanding, so we’re looking for a brewer to work in collaboration with our head brewer to increase production and help manage our brewery operations.
Summary of Position:
Brewer is responsible for brewing beer and working with our head brewer to meet ownerships expectations and business needs. Brewers are responsible for everything brewery related. Brewer is responsible for meeting production goals, upholding quality standards, training and educating restaurant staff, and maintaining a clean and positive work environment. Brewers are responsible for upholding brand standards and acting in the best interest of the business.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Brew delicious beer
Live the brand and be a brand ambassador
Meet ownership’s expectations for the brewery and brewed products
Manage a high quality, efficient brewery operation to meet department deliverables
Provide expert knowledge of the brewing process, recipe formulation, and ingredients with an ability to troubleshoot quality and production issues
Provide expert knowledge and understanding of brewery equipment including maintenance and repair
Effectively communicate all brewery happenings with restaurant team and management
Engage, educate, and promote brewed products to restaurant guests and staff.
Be an expert on all things brewery related
Create a safe, clean, organized, and healthy work environment in the brewery
Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner.
Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant’s preventative maintenance programs.
Work with restaurant managers to plan and price brewery offerings.
Ensure that all ingredients and products are ordered according to predetermined product specifications and cost, and received in correct unit count and condition and deliveries are performed in accordance with the restaurant’s receiving policies and procedures.
Control beer cost by brewing, storing, and serving beer to company standards
Maintain appropriate cleaning schedules for floors, brewhouse, brewery, tanks, mill room, walk-in cooler, other brewing equipment, indoor and outdoor storage and brewing related areas.
Check and maintain proper beer holding and serving temperature
Attend all coordination meetings with management and General Manager to ensure clear communication on brewery operations
Make decisions in the best interest of the brewery every time.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 1-2 year of experience as a brewer/brewers assistant
Strong understanding of beer science, brewery technology and brewery operations
Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, dining room personnel, and guests.
Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
