Fair Winds Brewing Company in Lorton, Va. is looking for a lead brewer to join our team. We are seeking a passionate, hardworking individual who is tech savvy, creative and dedicated to making the highest quality beer.
Requirements, Duties, and Responsibilities:
• Work closely with and under the direction of Head Brewer Charlie Buettner.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a head or assistant brewer at a production brewery or high volume brew pub with knowledge of all aspects of beer production (recipe formulation, raw materials handling, milling, wort production, racking, fining, yeast propagation and management, fermentation, cellar operations, packaging, CIP, sanitation procedures, general brewery cleanliness, laboratory procedures, etc.)
• A degree from an accredited brewing school is preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work well in team settings and independently.
• Experience with brewing analytical instrumentation and understand/possess ability to perform basic brewing calculations.
• Dedicated to quality and safety.
• Must be able to stand long hours and repetitively lift 55 pounds to a height of 5 feet and move 165 pounds.
•A mechanical aptitude with trouble shooting and problem solving abilities.
•Must be flexible with the work schedule, and be an ambassador for Fair Winds Brewing Co. at the brewery, private events, and festivals.
Fair Winds Brewing Company brew house is a 30bbl, 3 vessel Craftwerk system with 30, 60 and 90bbl fermenters and 90bbl BBT.
