    Wandering Aengus Ciderworks, a medium- sized boutique cider producer, located in Salem, OR, is currently recruiting for an assistant cidermaker. We are looking for a hard-working, energetic and enthusiastic person to join our cidermaking team.

    Wandering Aengus produces approximately 7,000 to 7,500 barrels of cider a year between its two brands; Anthem and Wandering Aengus. We have a production team of four full-time employees.

    Our production crew are exposed to all facets of cider work. This will include (but not be limited to):
    • meticulous cleaning and sanitation
    • sampling fermentors
    • routine lab analysis (Brix/pH/TA/FSO2/TSO2/DO/CO2/ABV)
    • cider additions
    • participation in on-site benchmark tastings and trials

    To a lesser extent, tasks may include
    • basic cellar operations
    • fermentation management
    • filtration
    • barrel work
    • bottling and labeling

    Successful candidates must:
    • Have an understanding of basic wine chemistry and fermentation
    • Exhibit great attention to detail
    • Work well as a team member
    • Be dependable and flexible
    • Have a clean DMV record and current driver’s license

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
    • Walk, kneel, bend and stand for prolonged periods
    • Climb ladders
    • Lift and/or move up to 60 lbs

    The majority of work time is spent in the cider laboratory and cellar where temperatures are variable and the noise level is usually moderate to loud. The work area may be damp as well.
