Boom Island Brewing Company - Job Opening - Position of Brewer
This Position is will commence: April 1st, 2016.
Boom Island is a fast growing brewery located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Belgian inspired brewery was founded in 2011. We run on a custom 15 Barrel direct-fire brewhouse fabricated by Portland Kettle Works. We package beer for draft and bottles. Our Troxler bottling line is the definitive bottle filler used in breweries all across Belgium for authentic 100% bottle conditioned beer. This position will report to the Head Brewer. Our brewers pride themselves on crafting some of the finest examples of Belgian-style beer in the area.
Specific job duties:
- Support the Company's Vision and Values.
- Keep accurate daily records and tracking through breweries management software.
- Execute the brew process from production of wort to completion of fermentation.
- Complete scheduled brewing shifts.
- Oversee inventory and quality management.
- Strive to continuously improve process, quality and efficiency in the overall production side of the operation.
- Plan and organize all aspects of the production cycle.
- Plan, manage and report production, cellar and packaging schedule and track inventory levels.
- Monitor and report progress of beer throughout its cycle from production of wort to completion of fermentation.
- Provide support, guidance and training to brewery staff, interns and volunteers.
- Manage brewery safety plan.
- Oversee and assist all production side areas as needed.
- Participate in Boom Island events and represent Boom Island and it’s products professionally and passionately.
Position requirements and qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years experience in professional brewery production.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area of study.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- An absolutely thorough attention to detail, organization and cleanliness.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- An absolute passion and understanding for the tradition of Belgian brewing.
- Passion to manage and grow this rapidly growing MN brewery.
- Strong technical knowledge of the entire brew process from wort production to packaging
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills regarding brewhouse and brewery equipment.
- Fermentation/Brewing degree or certificate from an accredited college.
