BREWER
We are currently looking for an outstanding person and highly skilled individual in all things related to a production brewery to join our start-up team. You will collaborate on all brewing operations and strategic direction with our co-founder's. This position will immediately begin in an evaluation-type mode as an assistant brewer, with benchmarks in place to ultimately earn the Head Brewer position. If you have the desire to lead a production brewery, please read below:
You can be described in the following ways:
•Do-it-yourself ability - independent but smart enough to ask for help when needed.
•Mechanical aptitude and ability - the ability to disassemble the Space Shuttle and put it back together (kidding, sort of).
•Jack-of-all-trades - can you chew gum while riding a unicycle and mashing in?
•Positive attitude - not exactly Stuart Smalley, but close will do (no Debbie Downer's wanted here).
•Ability to socialize with customers - can you bartend like Tom Cruise in Cocktail? If yes, we hear Coyote Ugly is hiring.
•Music nerd - if your go-to is Lil' Wayne and Drake...you are not quite a music nerd in our book. Again, Coyote Ugly is hiring.
•Clean freak - do you get anxious when your clothes are not properly spaced in your closet?
•Hard worker - will you put a 1/2BBL keg on your back and hike to Steamboat in January for a festival?
•Great person - this is crucial for fitting in with our culture. Can't teach this!
Your experience should include:
•Minimum of 2 years in a production brewery, preferably 7BBL or greater
•Comprehensive knowledge of brewing at a micro level which would include:
◦Quality control
◦Yeast propagation
◦Lab work
◦Recipe formulation
◦Yeast strains
◦Brewing on a commercial system
◦Operating and maintaining the cellar
◦Kegging off from brite tanks
◦Keg washing
◦Bottle or can packaging
◦CIP of all vessels
◦Working in a barrel program
◦Taproom beer maintenance and quality
•Grain-to-glass and everything in-between!
You should be:
•Willing to work hard
•Willing to have FUN while you work hard
•Willing to endure the harsh physical demands of a brewery
•Willing to bartend occasionally
•Willing to attend beer festivals occasionally
•Willing to take on a HUGE role in our start-up brewery
In a nutshell, we are looking for a multi-talented, experienced, great person! We are a completely family-owned (yep, no investors here) and operated brewery, who have a passion for beer, people, music, dogs, and everything outdoors CO has to offer. We are committed to going above-and-beyond to make our team feel valued and appreciated! We will have a 3300 SQ FT production area (LOTS of room to grow - think packaging, barrel and/or sour program, etc.), 2200 SQ FT taproom, and 4800 SQ FT beer garden. You will be brewing on a 7BBL, two-vessel system.
This position will start as hourly, and transition into salary upon becoming the Head Brewer. Please include a bio of yourself (be creative - who are you, where are you from, what are your hobbies/interests, etc.), and job history. The submission deadline is 4.30.16, and the anticipated start date is June/July. Please email all info to: will@absolutethresholdbrewery.com. The posting is listed on our website as well. Thanks and good luck!
