  • Keg cleaning--residual sanitizer left in keg?

We have a new two tank automatic keg washer.

I am currently reviewing the cleaning sequence and have found there is a little liquid left behind after the last rinse. The last rinse is with a cold PAA solution then CO2 purge and pressurization with CO2.

I pulled the spear and there is about 2 oz of solution left in the keg. Is this anything to worry about? Does everyone's keg washer blow the keg dry with CO2 such that you can't hear any liquid in the keg after cleaning?

I realize 2 oz of PAA solution is about 4ppm of PAA so a very small amount.

Our washer leaves some residual sanitizer in there too, just what's left on the interior walls sheeting down and collecting after the CO2 purge. For a rinse-free sanitizer like PAA, I'd forget about it.

Try a last CO2 blast through the spear.
