    Butcher & the Brewer is looking for an experienced brewer to operate the bustling downtown brewpub. Our hand-built brews are designed from the ground up and range from classic styles to off the wall creations. The brewhouse is a gravity fed 10 bbl Specific Mechanical comprised of a steam jacketed mash/kettle and separate lauter tun. The whirlpool is located on the lower level as are the 8 FVs and 8 stacked horizontal jacketed BBTs.
    High attention to detail, multitasking, endurance, and focus on sterile procedure are a musts.
    The right candidate will have formal brewing education and 3 years of professional brewing experience. A background in science is a plus. There is a strong potential for the right person to earn equity in the business as well as near immediate potential to go to a production brewery.     Daily Duties

    • Ensure a clean, sanitary, and presentable work environment
    • Operation of a 10 bbl three vessel Specific Mechanical Brewhouse
    • CIP/SANI of 10 bbl FVs & BBTs, racking beer, dry hopping
    • Order, maintain, and inventory raw ingredients weekly
    • Communicate directly with beer loving owners and general manager
    • Design new and fun high quality beers
    • Daily management of yeast health, fermentations, sample log, and CIP log
    • Willingness to assist all areas of the company from the brewhouse to maintenance, staff training, and beer festivals (there are a lot in the greater Cleveland Area)
    • Must work well independently and be a self starter
    • Must be willing to grow with the company and meet production needs
    • A complete willingness to contribute to the brewhouse, cellar, and growth into a production facility

    Requirements

    • A diploma or Certificate in Brewing or Fermentation Sciences from a recognized brewing school and 3+ years professional brewing experience
    • Strong record keeping and communication skills
    • Ability to lead, and run a one-man-show

    Working conditions

    • Capable of standing for long periods of time and to safely perform physically demanding work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
    • Ability to lift 55lbs overhead and lift/stack 150 lb kegs
    • Capable of working safely on wet surfaces and around potentially hazardous machinery, equipment and chemicals

    This is a full-time, position with offering a very competitive package. Pay to commensurate with experience.
