Scope:
Cigar City Brewing is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead our Tasting Room team. The Tasting Room General Manager will be responsible for all aspects and operations of the Cigar City Brewing Tasting Room with a focus on ensuring an outstanding guest experience. The General Manager will be responsible for the leadership and development of the Tasting Room team, tasting room specific event planning, venue maintenance, and financial performance of the tasting room. This position reports to the Director of Customer Interactions.
This person must have mastered the skillsets of Education, Customer Service, Communication, Service Industry Operations, and also be a Cigar City Brewing Brand Ambassador.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Directly supervising a staff of 20+ bartenders, barbacks, tour guides, and support staff in a high-volume, dynamic bar environment
• Educating and empowering the staff to enable them to carry out an exceptional level of customer service, demonstrate a high level of product knowledge, and maintain and clean and safe work environment
• Maintaining successful Tasting Room operations by enforcing policies outlined as standard operating procedures while periodically reassessing these practices and making necessary improvements
• Ordering and controlling inventory of merchandise, soft goods and general supplies
• Overseeing and executing events including bottle releases, tap takeovers, seasonal events, corporate meetings, private tours and tastings, catered events, beer launches, and other events
• Educating guests on Cigar City Brewing’s history, brand details, brewing techniques, beer culture, Tampa Bay brewing history, and other topics as they relate to Cigar City Brewing
• Acting as brewery ambassador for visiting brewers, wholesale partners, retailers, and other special guests of the brewery
• Accepting deliveries of kegs and packaged beer both internally and from wholesale partners
• Maintaining and troubleshooting a draught beer dispensing system of 36 lines, 3 free standing keg boxes, and 2 beer engines
• Entering invoices and updating POS terminals via Focus POS software
• Ensuring that both guests and staff are experiencing the Cigar City Tasting Room in a fun, educational, engaging, and responsible manner at all times
• Reporting daily activities and issues to Director of Customer Interactions, COO, and/or CFO.
• All other tasks or duties as assigned by management
Experience and Skills:
• Demonstrate a great passion and understanding of the craft beer industry and knowledge of the processes, product, and styles
• Must be able to lead a team by example
• Ability to successfully work with autonomy
• Excellent organizational and positive communication skills required
• Ability to work collaboratively in an environment that values creativity and flexibility
• Lead and inspire change, growth, and new thinking for positive behavior-based results
• Minimum of three years of management and leadership experience in a high volume hospitality venue, bar, or restaurant required
Education and Certification:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field is preferred
• Cicerone Certification is preferred
• Cicerone Certified Beer Server is required
• High School Diploma of equivalent is required
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., and lift, push or pull 165 lbs. kegs
• Must be able to work on your feet for 8 hours
• Must be able to crouch, bend, lift and reach
