Wise Man Brewing, a new production brewery opening in Winston-Salem, NC this summer, is looking for an experienced full-time Taproom Manager whose primary role is to ensure that our guests have an exceptional experience in our taproom. The ideal candidate will channel the passion we put into our beer into a memorable taproom experience for our guests.
The ideal candidate must be customer-focused, experienced in a restaurant/bar/taproom environment, and have exceptional interpersonal, management, and organizational skills. We’re interested in talking to candidates who are excited about the opportunity to be involved in the ground level of a start-up business, wearing many hats. These hats include setting up our back and front office systems; recruiting, training, and motivating taproom staff; leading special events and maintaining our social media outlets; and serving as an ambassador for the Wise Man brand. And, of course, someone who knows and loves craft beer as much as we do!
The taproom manager’s responsibilities will include:
• Manage the guest areas of the taproom, ensuring a clean, fun, and friendly environment for our customers
• Oversee special events, including beer tastings and launches, private events & tours, concerts/music, and other promotional events
• Hire, build, and develop a dedicated team of bartenders and servers. Maintain an employee-friendly and positive work environment
• Coordinate with Head Brewer/staff to manage supply of beer for the taproom
• Arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment and other services as needed
• Update POS terminals and back-office information
• Manage inventory of glassware, merchandise, snacks, and all other taproom supplies, coordinating orders and deliveries with suppliers
• Act as Wise Man’s ambassador to the craft beer industry, our guests, retail accounts, suppliers, etc.
• Maintain a consistent brand messaging amongst promotional and marketing materials (i.e. posters, table tents, social media ads, etc.)
• Set up, staff and execute taproom and other promotional events
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing a bar, restaurant, or taproom
• In-depth understanding of craft beer and quality beer service
• Ability to multi-task and remain calm and positive while working in a fast-paced, demanding environment
• Outgoing personality and excellent communication skills; ability to lead, train, and motivate
• Flexible schedule, able to work 40+ hours per week including working nights, weekends, and holidays with occasional travel
• At least 21 years old
