    HEAD BREWER POSITION AT VOSS BRYGGERI

    Location: Voss, Voss Kommune, Norway
    Role: Head Brewer/Brewer
    Salary: Negotiable


    Voss Bryggeri is a small brewery in Western Norway with an emphasis on pale ales and locally brewed beer using local ingredients.
    The brewery itself is a 10 HL Metalcraft Fabrication brew house built into an old store 9km from the town of Voss. Voss is a stunning mountain town on the west coast of Norway. Voss is also the capital of extreme sports in Norway with everything from paragliding, hang gliding and mountain biking to more relaxed sports such as cross country skiing and hunting. It also has two ski resorts in the local area and some of the best kayaking in the world. It is also host to Ekstremesportsveko a yearly extreme sports festival which draws athletes and bands from all over the world to Voss for one week each year.

    Who are we?
    Team Voss Bryggeri are 3 dedicated homebrewers who all met through adrenalin activities in the sky.
    After our outdoor activities like backcountry snowboarding, whitewater kayaking, skydiving, hang-/paragliding, hiking, hunting/fishing…
    we share the joy of great craft beer and brewing.

    The main work undertaken by the Head Brewer is as follows:
    • Brewery operations such as brewing, cellaring, tank cleaning, packaging and yeast management
    • Work with the owners to organize a brewing schedule and manage hops and malt stocks, beer inventory and beer launches
    • Brew existing recipes and work with contract brews and bars to create new beers
    • Represent the company at events and beer festivals throughout Norway
    • Organize expansion of the brewery with the owners and help design equipment that will be installed into the brewery
    • Operate packaging on a Cask Automatic Canning Line
    • Work in a safe, clean manner and be up to date with MSDS sheets and HACCP
    • Organize operations at the brewery and work schedules
    • Brew traditional Norwegian style beers using old methods and equipment

    Requirements/ Desired Skills
    • Experience working in a production environment/ craft brewery
    • Preferred: A degree in brewing or qualification from an accredited brewing course.
    • Preferred: A clean driving license
    • Fluency in either English or a Scandinavian language (Danish, Swedish or ideally Norwegian)
    • Be able to lift 25kg on a regular basis and be physically fit
    • Good communication and organization skills
    • Able to work independently
    • Knowledge of chemical handling and ideally basic first aid training
    • Comfortable working with unusual ingredients such as juniper, beetroot etc.
    • Willing and interested in working with traditional Norwegian brewing equipment and methods
