  • Heat or cool 500l fermenter

    Hi,

    Just starting up a new brewery. We've run our small pilot brewery for a year now and the fermenters have needed heating to ensure complete fermentation. The size was only 30l and the ambient temperature is about 14degC. We're now moving to a 500l system and it would be great to know from others experience if I'll need to cool the fermenters or not. I know once we get to about 1000l we'll definitely need cooling due to the heat from the fermentation. 500l feels like it might lose most of this Heat and maybe even need heated. Does anyone have any experience at this size?

    I realise we could just do the first batch and monitor the temperature but this will set is back a fair bit if we need to buy additional equipment. Would be great to know in advance if possible.
