    Position: Production Brewer

    Reports To: Head Brewer (San Leandro)

    Are you incredibly passionate about craft beer? Do you enjoy and savor the smell of fresh hops and dream of the endless possibilities of creating a variety of beers from clean, crisp lagers to creamy, exotic stouts? Are you willing and ready to keep an open mind and learn all the aspects of production brewing in a state of the art facility? If so, we want you on our team! We're currently hiring for a Brewer in our San Leandro, CA location.



    What we are looking for:


    This is the ultimate opportunity for those who have formal brewing education or for the experienced home brewer who wants to take his/her passion and make a career out of it.
    Brewers will have the unique opportunity to get their foot in the door of 21st Amendment's new state of the art production facility and will learn what it takes to be a production brewer. There will be plenty of hard work, learning experience, and opportunities to prove yourself in a culture that focuses on safety, accountability, professionalism, and most importantly, "Grabbing life by the boulders"!

    Ideal candidates will have the ability to take direction well, a desire to learn, a can do attitude, and the willingness to break down obstacles and create solutions to meet quality and production goals.


    What the job involves:
    • Ensure a clean, sanitary, and “showcase brewery” work environment
    • Assisting with ongoing day-to-day operations within the brewery; anything from being on the brewing deck to exterior tank scrubbing
    • Assisting with the monitoring of yeast health, fermentation, cropping, and general yeast management
    • A complete willingness to getting your hands dirty in the brewhouse, cellar, packaging hall, and warehouse
    • Working with the Maintenance Manager to develop a preventative maintenance program
    • Succeeding with limited direction, but knowing when to ask for clearer guidance
    • Excitement to meet growing demands and perform other duties as needed and assigned
    • Eagerness to be part of a strong team of brewers with safety, accountability, professionalism, teamwork and fun in the forefront of the culture


    What you should have:
    • A diploma or Certificate in Brewing or Fermentation Sciences is highly desirable
    • Ability to express oneself in both written and verbal communication
    • A “no job is too small” attitude
    • Ability to take direction well, follow verbal and written SOP’s
    • An entry level understanding of brewing and cellaring with automated process interfaces as well as manual brewing operations is highly desirable but most importantly a willingness to develop and learn


    Working conditions:
    • Capable of standing for long periods of time and to perform physically demanding work
    • May need to lift up to 75 pounds
    • Capable of safe and competent work on and around potentially hazardous machinery, equipment, chemicals and systems
    • Able to work in an environment with high noise level
    • May need to come in on weekends and/or weeknights and respond to emergencies
    • The successful candidate will require a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
