    Short Fuse Brewing Company a brand new beer brewery located few miles from Ohare Airport in Schiller Park,IL. Short Fuse will be a beer first focused brewery with 6500 sq ft taproom and over 20,000 sq ft of total brewery space. We currently have a 30 bbl system and plan to have 12-14 beers on tap in our taproom at all times. Lead by our brew master with over 70 national and international awards and accolades over his career that spans two decades, Short Fuse will have a large focus on barrel aging and creating unique styles.

    At Short Fuse Brewing, we're looking for an inquisitive, hard working and punctual craft beer lover who derives joy in it's consumption and marvels at it's creation. Experience in production brewing is always good (6 months to a year is fine) but what's more important is having a thirst for knowledge and the drive to learn all there is to know about your art. You'll be working with a brew master who has strong desires to always learn and improve the product, so the ceiling for learning is very high.

    While employed at Short Fuse, you will be expected to assist the master brewer in all facets of brewing as well as to maintain the brewery itself. Applicants will be expected to have an in-depth knowledge of beer, the process in which it is brewed. Experience with a larger scale system(15-30bbl) as well as a firm grasp on cleaning and sanitizing practices are required. The job can be labor intensive so you should be able to lift weights in excess of 50lbs and be able to stand during your entire shift.

    Your duties will include but might not be limited to:
    • Clean and sanitize all equipment, tanks and work areas to maintain consistent, quality beer.
    • Take a monthly or weekly inventory of all raw goods and finished products
    • 1 year commercial brewing experience strongly preferred, as a assistant brewer, preferably at a brewery with comparable unique, interesting and boundary pushing beers.
    • Ability to help create new, unique recipes and or processes on demand, as well as produce existing recipes to exacting specs with strict adherence to established SOP provided by the Brew master.
    • Experience with barrel filling, blending, and racking. Experience with mixed culture fermentation and Kettle Souring.
    • Yeast harvesting and management.
    • Raw ingredient and supplies ordering/receiving/inventory and management.
    • Ability to maintain equipment and keep a clean working environment.
    • Prioritizing and focusing on multiple tasks environment.
    • Meticulously maintain comprehensive and accurate daily records.
    • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
    • Self-motivation and ability to work with limited amount of direction and supervision.
    • Fermentation Management and daily tracking
    • Knowledge of brew house operations including keg washing, keg racking, bottling, bottle conditioning, fermenter, brite tank and serving tank cleaning/sanitation.
