    The not often considered essentials

    The coolest toys are:
Redundancy on your critical mechanical systems like you chiller especially, piped in and run ready......
Spare parts on the shelf to deal with whats going to fail
Identification of any weak links on the Electrical-Mechanical side that can take your operation down.
Having persons you can enlist who know how to see these things clearly and work proactively

All of this before anything transistorized, digitized, softwareized or gimmickized.

      Two Things

One: Probably not his money....OR....If the investors saw this.....

Two: Use the money to hire a new sales guy....sell more beer...

      Just sayin'....

Capital expenses are a great way to reduce tax burden. I know I would rather invest more into the company than pay more out in taxes. He is talking about spending money on things that would be considered "upgrades" or make life easier not literally a toy like buying a life like manikin of Luke Skywalker...

Warren sounds like a complete killjoy, but he's right on the money. Money invested now in spares, redundancy, training and upgrades to the physical plant will pay off big in the future. Imagine the difference in cost between shutting down for a day or two--or a week or two in some cases--and probably losing product--vs being down for a few hours.
