Brewery Assistant PT

Sweet Union Brewing in Indian Trail, North Carolina is looking for a brewery assistant to help with a broad range of work. This is a PT position, about 20-30 hours a week. The right candidate will have at least some experience with brewing, plumbing, or electrical, preferably all three. This position will help with the labor aspects of brewing our recipes, cleaning equipment, managing keg and tap rotations, as well as supporting the taproom and events. Candidate will need to be physically fit, have a moderate understanding of beer (brewing, tasting, some basic formulas) and be committed to overcoming small-business obstacles in a supporting role. We are not looking for management, marketing, sales or distribution experience with this role, and those candidates will not be considered. Job Duties:

Assist with basic brewing operations (lifting up to 80+ lbs).
Grain-handling, measuring hops and other ingredients, spent grain removal..
Monitoring high-heat burners, control panels, and other dangerous processes.
Assist with cleaning equipment.
Monitor quality control procedures and note actions in log book.
Provide friendly service if needed in the taproom.
Facilities upkeep, preferably maintenance on equipment if needed.
High-level of respect for customers, co-workers and business owners.

Required Skills (please do not apply if you do not meet these):
Basic brewing knowledge - you will be quizzed.
At least one: Plumbing, Electrical, Welding.
Fluent English.

Bonus Skills that will make you an awesome fit: Chemistry, Microbiology, Cooperage.

Pay - $10/hr
Hours - Tuesday to Sunday 20-30 hours/week, 4 or 5 days a week, 2-3 days off.
Structure - Reports directly to Head Brewers and Owner
