Third Street Brewing Company, LLC in Central Virginia is seeking a Head Brewer. This is a full time position with opportunities for autonomy, growth, and the potential for partial company ownership. Position will begin February 2017, with the facility opening in August 2017.
The ideal candidate will bring with them:
• 2-3 years professional brewing experience
• Mastery of technical aspects of wort production, fermentation, finishing, and packaging
• Passion for developing the highest quality beer
• Ability to communicate effectively, work independently , and plan ahead
• Strong attention to detail in every aspect of their work
• Creative problem-solving skills and proven gung-ho attitude
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs
• Maniacal devotion to sanitation
Responsibilities include:
• Recipe development
• Complete brewing process including cleaning and sanitation
• Kegging and cooperage maintenance
• Quality control and creation of standard operating procedures
• Oversight of part time laborers
• Availability for tours and special events
• Managing the installation of a 7 bbl Deutsche Brewing system
Third Street Brewing Company is a new brewery and tap room located in south central Virginia, between Richmond and Lynchburg. The location is in a historic building situated next to the High Bridge Trail State Park. Farmville is a thriving community with two colleges, a strong downtown environment, and tremendous goodwill for a local brewery. We intend to create a taproom and beer garden with a focus on fresh, creative ales with food service provided by a regular rotation of mobile catering services. The emphasis is on on-site sales with very limited distribution.
Salary is negotiable based on experience.
