What kind of tanks are these that require glued in manway gaskets?

      Oversized

Often manway gaskets need to be "over-sized". They need to be pushed into the groove at the top, bottom, left hand and right hand side first and this at equal distances. The remainder of the gasket can then be pushed into the groove by lightly tapping with a rubber hammer.

Follow up from the last comment. Don't glue. Virtually all glues taint, and more to the point you will get a degree of leakage behind / around the gasket, which will then develop infection. You are most unlikely to get a perfet, bug proof seal all the way round. So you need to rip it out, which tears the gasket, and oops you need a new one. If you leave them unglued, you can take the gasket out, clean both the gasket and the channel.
