    7venth Sun is opening a second location in Tampa, FL with a 15 bbl brewhouse and can line; we are looking for a lead brewer to help with start-up and continued management and brewing operations.

    Job Purpose:
    The lead brewer will manage brewing/packaging operations, employees, raw materials, and product flow. This position is critical to growth of the business as it directly results in maintaining a steady supply of the highest quality product to the market as demand increases. Keeping the facility impeccably clean and employing and enforcing rigorous cleaning standards is of the utmost importance in this roll.

    Duties and responsibilities:
    Production Planning/General Management
    • Beer and recipe development – from concept to pilot batch, testing, scaling up and production – applies to new brands as well as scaling up existing brands to the 15 bbl batch size
    • Work with sales team to determine and provide proper beer inventory level – draft and package for both distribution and tasting room
    • Schedule brews based on sales and tank availability
    • Responsible for inventory and supply chain management malt, hops, kegging and canning supplies – materials ordering and logistics
    • Yeast and Fermentation Management
    • Oversee and improve production efficiency
    Personnel Management
    • Cross train all production employees to mastery level in all departments – brewing, cellar, packaging
    • Training, guiding and growing the brewing team
    • Create production employees schedule and insure they follow procedures and practices
    • Manage production employees time, execution, consistency, and accuracy
    • Lead day to day activities necessary to produce high quality, consistent beer
    Quality Control/Sanitation
    • Maintain sanitary and micro-biologically stable work environment
    • Conduct critical assessment of beers through active participation in beer sensory panels
    • Implement and maintain impeccable CIP routine
    Production Operations
    • Work in brewing, cellar, packaging and wood cellar as necessary executing production goals
    • Maintain brewing, cellaring, filtration, packaging, and other related documentation in an organized and complete manner
    Program and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Development
    • Develop and implement routine maintenance – assist, delegate, schedule routine work to avoid catastrophic equipment failure
    • Develop and implement safety SOPs Develop
    • Develop and implement cleaning regiment/SOPs
    Trouble Shooting/Innovation
    • Trouble-shoot failing equipment – repair when possible, plan/schedule when beyond scope of capabilities.
    • Facilitate future growth of the brewery through continuous optimization of processes
    • First line of communication when equipment fails/issues arise
    Assist with Plant Start-Up
    • Equipment installation and implementation
    • Preliminary/basic QA/QC lab
    • Implement brewing software

    Qualifications:
    Experience
    • Three plus years of brewing experience with progressive advancement in leadership or management positions
    • Extensive/strong background with brewing CIP, cleaning, sanitation
    • QA/QC background a plus
    • Lagering skills preferred
    • Wood aging/cellar experience preferred
    • Recipe development experience required
    • Fork Lift experience required
    Skill Set
    • Self-motivated, excellent work ethic both independently and with a team
    • Strong mechanical and problem solving aptitude
    • Having the ability to work unsupervised and manage own time and time of others effectively
    • Willingness to work at a fast pace with precision in daily tasks
    • Have an eye for the big picture and the details that support it
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Working conditions:
    Frequently exposed to wet conditions and work in extreme heat and cold. Exposure to strong and sometimes disagreeable odors and occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals. Working near moving mechanical parts and at moderate noise level and around dust and in a dusty environment.

    Physical requirements:
    • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • Ability to lift 55# grain bags to shoulder repeatedly and up to 75# using traditional methods
    • Ability to ascend and descend staircase repeatedly throughout shift
    • Ability to work at elevated heights
