Lionstone Brewing, located in Geneseo, IL (about 2 hours west of Chicago, IL) is seeking an experienced brewer to manage all aspects of our production operations. We are a small brewery currently producing about 850 bbls/year. We house a 15 bbl steam jacketed production brewing system with 3 - 30 bbl fermenters and 1 – 30 bbl brite beer tank. We also have a 2 bbl steam jacketed pilot brewing system with 2- 2 bbl fermenters for recipe development.
Duties will include recipe development, all aspects of production, quality control, raw material selection, yeast handling, process equipment cleaning/sanitization, canning and kegging, inventory control, operation, maintenance and repair. Essential skills include basic computer skills, managing an assistant brewer, ability to maintain detailed records, compliance with safety and regulatory issues, and problem solving. The position will require lifting approximately 55 pounds, working in hot/cold/wet conditions with a varying schedule.
The ideal candidate will possess 3+ years of professional brewing experience. A degree from an accredited brew school is a plus. An undergraduate degree in biology or chemistry would also be a plus. A passion for crafting beer, a customer centric focus and a desire to lead and nurture new brewery team is a must. If you don't have all of these qualities, we still want to hear from you.
