Assistant Brewer Position
EJ Phair Brewing Company is currently looking for an assistant brewer to join our team.
Responsibilities will include -
• Lifting 50 lb. bags of grain on a routine basis, and milling in said grain.
• Providing assistance in weighing out grain, hops, and other adjuncts for brews, when needed.
• Tank cleaning: this includes caustic and acid cleaning, sanitation and CO2 purge, when necessary.
• Fermentation log completion and monitoring of said fermentations, and all tasks associated with it (Cap, Dry-hopping, Trub, Yeast harvesting, changing temperature set points etc.)
• Keg cleaning and racking of finished beer.
• Providing assistance in bottling/canning operations.
• Participation in general plant cleanliness. (e.g., power washing the floors, cleaning the outside of the tanks, sweeping up the grain room, etc.)
• Cellar transfers and filtrations.
• Setting up and breaking down of the filter. This includes hot water sanitation and removal of spent filter media when finished.
• Preparing beer for packaging.
• Awareness of maintaining cold box inventory in an organized fashion
• Cleaning tap lines for the bar, and stocking the bar area with beer
• Attending events, such as festivals, beer dinners and other promotional events on an as-needed basis.
All of the above responsibilities you will be trained on. You will also be trained on how to use a pallet jack, our lift elevator, and the forklift. It is understood that some responsibilities may require additional training and will be furnished to you at the required time.
Furthermore you must be flexible in the shift hours worked. Our current schedule will be an 8 hour shift between the hours of 6 am and 8 pm, and the starting time for the shift may change from week to week.
The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in a production brewery and/or a brewing education certificate.
The above position will be a full-time position at the rate of $35k salary to start.
