  • Formula for OG compensating

    Hi All,

    So, we've got some noobs in the brewhouse who've done some over-sparging on a multi-brew tank.
    I'm trying to figure out what our actual OG was in the tank (which is fermenting now, so I can't just check the tank).
    This happens from time to time, so a formula would be helpful.
    Please take pity on my awful math skills

    For example:

    Target OG: 12.0 plato

    1st brew: 10.7p, 16hl
    2nd brew: 13.2p, 12.8hl
    3rd brew: 12.0p, 14hl

    Thanks!

    (10.7)(16)+(13.2)(12.8)+(12)(14)=x(42.8) The 42.8 is the sum of all the volumes
    171.2+168.96+168=x(42.8)
    508.16=x(42.8)
    508.16/42.8=x
    11.87=x
