Overview:
Red Hare Brewing Company, LLC’s QAQC/Brewer is primarily responsible for producing quality product throughout the entire production process by implementing quality management systems from reception of raw materials to brewing to packaging while complying with food and beverage safety requirements. This position reports directly to the Head Brewer.
Responsibilities:
• Helps in all brewery functions, including but not limited to, brewing beer, transferring and carbonating finished beer, cleaning/preparing tanks, and some packaging
• Implements process improvement and workflow efficiencies
• Ensures accuracy of all logs of quality data and matrixes
• Runs quality control tests
• Assesses the quality of all raw materials and helps maintains their inventories
• Monitors yeast health
• Logs fermentation cycle of all beers
• Helps in the creation, brewing, and refining of new and existing beer recipes
• Maintains all laboratory equipment
• Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment
• Engages in continuous education and development of beer knowledge
• Participates in brewery functions and events
• Oversees barrel program
Qualifications:
• Two years or more of experience in a 6,000 or more barrels/year brewery/30 BBL brew house or higher
• Self-motivated for continuous improvement of personal skills and business systems
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint)
• Strong mechanical background
• Ability to work in fast paced environment while maintaining precision
• Ability to ascend and descend staircase and/or ladder repeatedly throughout shift
• Ability to carry/lift 50-165lbs. and work safely in a loud and/or hot work environment
Level of Education:
Brewing Certifications/Degrees or
Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or Chemistry preferred and compensated appropriately
