  • Question Aboot a keg

OK, the owner of the club I work for was going through our garage and deciding what he wanted gone. He pointed out a keg of kokanee, and I said I'd take it home. It's old. REALLY old. The stamp on the top says it was packaged on June 05, 2005. I was wondering if it would still be in any way still good to drink and worth getting a tap for. It was kept in a cool, dry place for the entire time. It's my birthday on tuesday so i was hoping to use it for then if there is even some chance that it was at least edible. THANKS!

    safe to drink?...probably

    good to drink?.....unlikely

If it was pasturized infectious flavors would probably be absent, but I bet it would be stale and oxidized.

Dude, its your birthday! spend a few bucks on a nice keg of locally produced craft beer....you'll be glad ya did.

I say take the gamble and taste it. Might as well try to see if it's any good. But please refrain from distributing it to friends on your birthday. Birthday cake is good going into your mouth, not coming out.
