Innovation Brewer: Issaquah Brewhouse – Rogue Ales and Spirits

    Position: Brewer

    Job Type: Full Time

Reports to: Issaquah Brewpub GM, Director of Operations

    About Us:
Rogue is a small revolution, which expresses itself through handcrafted Ales, Porters, Stouts, Lagers, and Spirits. The spirit of the Rogue brans, even the name, suggests doing things differently, a desire and a willingness to change the status quo. Rogue’s production is headquartered in Newport, Oregon, and additional two satellite brewhouses serve as sites for Research and Development: Portland’s Eastside Pilot Brewery, and Issaquah, Washington’s Issaquah Brewhouse.

    Job Description:
Product Development: The Innovation Brewer will work as a member of Rogue’s Product Development Team, and create Nano batches that follow working guidelines that are presented by the Product Innovation Managers. The brews will be presented to a taste panel consisting of representatives from different departments, and the feedback will drive the evolution of the projects, until such a time when they are ready to scale up for production.

Production: The Brewer will be responsible for working with the Issaquah Brewpub GM, to brew legacy flagship’s from the Issaquah Brewhouse.

Community Engagement: Most importantly, the Brewer is an ambassador for Rogue. The Brewer will be involved in the working of the Pub, (ie events with Pint Club Members), offer tours, and be present for new release parties. The Brewer will be expected to participate in Issaquah and Washington community events as a representative of Rogue.

    Roles & Responsibilities:
The Innovation Brewer will be the only Non-Pub member of the staff in Issaquah; as such, the Brewer will not only have to possess competency in Brewing and Cellaring, but additionally in equipment maintenance, warehousing/organization of brewing supplies, and ability to communicate with Operation’s team members and/or outside vendors.

    Ideal Candidate Possess:
Rogue is just as interested in your personal brewing history and philosophy as your credentials. The brewer needs to be able to work autonomously while also taking direction from the operations team.

    • Must have 3 years brewing experience and have developed more than 10 styles of beer
    • Bartending experience preferred
    • Brewing education is a plus
    • Strong work ethic is essential

Please include the following in your cover letter:
    • Salary expectations
    • How long have you been brewing and how many total styles have you brewed?
    • Current or recent brews - what styles have you brewed, what methods did you use, what worked and what would you change?
    • Future brews - what styles are you unfamiliar with, what would you like to learn more about?

In the first few weeks of Hire, Rogue may send the Issaquah Brewer to Newport and Portland to train on our pilot systems. This is an opportunity to train with one of the great American brewers - John Maier.

For consideration, Please send resume/CV and cover letter to brewingjobs@rogue.com
