    Snowy Mountain Brewery at Saratoga Hot Springs Resort and Spa in Saratoga, WY is seeking an experienced craft brewer or confident brew school graduate to fill the position for Head Brewer. Located just a couple of hours west of Cheyenne and 2.5 hours west of Fort Collins, CO it is a great location for a brewer who likes outdoor activities like blue ribbon trout fishing, rafting, mountain biking, off-road driving, snowmobiling, skiing, riding and hunting. Options for affordable on-site housing will be offered to the right candidate in addition to medical benefit options, production bonuses and a fair hourly wage based on experience. This position will be great for a brewer who wants to live in the Wild West and make their mark in the emerging Wyoming brewing scene.

    Brewery Equipment and Facility:A classic 5BBL Specific Mechanical, Direct Fire Brewhouse, with two 5BBL Fermenters and one 7BBL Fermenter on the warm side and six 5bbl Brite Tanks to deliver the beer from the cooler. It is very hands on… but easy to operate and with small batch sizes the opportunity to brew seasonal beers is increased. There will be an 800 Sq. Ft. expansion of the current brewery building taking place this summer that will allow expanded fermentation capacity, barrel aging and a mill.

    Head Brewer Position: This great position is available to the right candidate that has experience brewery operations from grain to glass or a brew school graduate with a strong desire for hands-on training from experienced brewers. It will be required that the brewer will work with ownership, management and the brewery adviser as a team player. Also, as a family-run business we expect our brewer to be hardworking, honest and personable. This position has a seasonally heavy demand from May-October where it will require a full-time, 40 hours per week, schedule. During the off-peak months the Brewer will be required to maintain beer supply with regular check-ins, brewing and keg deliveries. If desired, the candidate has the opportunity to work in other resort departments to supplement hours in the off season (snowmobile season).

    Responsibilities:
    • Control of all brewing operations from grain to glass
    • Clean and safe brewing practices including solid CIP procedures and following SOPs
    • Maintaining a small Laboratory Program that is focused on beer health, quality control and quality analysis
    • Brewing lagers, ales and creative brews that are technically sound, harmonious and vibrant
    • Management and Inventory Control of all brewing supplies, beer sales in-house and outside accounts
    • Assist in sales and delivery for outside accounts when needed
    • Take pride of ownership in our brand, equipment and facility
    • Maintain barrel aging program and nitrogen poured beer
    • Proper representation of brewery at all times, in all settings
    • Assist if needed by representing the resort and brewery at regional beer festivals and other events
    • Train assistant brewers, tasting room staff and management on brewery operations, draft dispensing and beer style education
    • Frequent and clear communication with resort management team on brewery operations
    • Clean and maintain all brewery and beer festival equipment
    • Federal and State Tax Document Reporting
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    • Special consideration given to candidates with at least 4 years professional brewing experience and/or 2 years of experience as a Head Brewer in a Brewpub or Production Brewery
    • Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree and/or Brewery Education will get special consideration
    • Must possess strong organizational, communication and writing skills
    • Ability to work independently and part a team with a strong work ethic
    • Positive, "can do", team player



    Physical Demands:
    • Ability to lift 55 pounds regularly and 165 pounds on occasion
    • Ability to stand at least 8 hours per day
    • Ability to work in hot, cold and wet environments when necessary

    Location: Saratoga Hot Springs Resort in Saratoga Wyoming is in a small, rural community of around 2,000 residents. With a lot of charm the resort sits on the banks of the blue ribbon North Platte River. Though small, the hot springs in the area has made the community a favorite travel destination with many restaurants, and lodging options. Named by Outside Magazine and one of the best places to live, there are many recreational opportunities in the area. Larger towns and cities in the region include: Rawlings, Laramie, Cheyenne, WY; Fort Collins, Denver, CO and Park City and Salt Lake City, UT.
