    JOB TITLE:*Head Brewer
    LOCATION:*Mill Creek Brewing Co. Nolensville, TN REPORTS TO:*Brewmaster
    POSITION TYPE:*Full Time
    SHIFT:*Monday-Sunday
    POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for completing all of the day-to-day activities necessary to make and package high quality beer.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
    •Directly responsible for maintaining Mill Creek quality standards in all areas of Brewing, Cellaring, and Packaging.
    •Work with prescribed cleaning chemicals, based upon established protocol, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
    •Maintain sanitary standards for the microbial integrity of the products.
    •Maintain the operational and aesthetic condition of the facility.
    •Operate brewing, cellar, filtration, and sanitation systems according to good manufacturing practice.
    •Maintain established quality parameters within the raw material handling, brewing, cellar, and filtration operations.
    •Record and verify all required data, within the brewery from brewhouse to bright beer tank operations.
    •Submit daily logs for operations control.
    •Assist in the maintenance and requirement of raw material and process material inventories.
    •Submit relevant engineering work order requests.
    •Monitor mechanical and operational integrity of brewing equipment.
    •Perform routine maintenance of brewing equipment when directed.
    •Participate in regular Brewers Meetings and proactively contribute ideas and solutions.
    •Maintains neat and orderly brewing areas including all floors of the brewhouse, control room, cellars, propagation room, whirlpool room, and all brewing related work areas.
    •Adheres to all policies, processes and standards in order to maintain a safe and welcoming work environment for self, co-workers, vendors, and guests. •Occasional completion of projects and project-related assignments.
    •Other duties and additional tasks as assigned by the Brewmaster.


    •Maintain a sanitary and micro-biologically stable work environment through CIP (Clean in Place) procedures, beer transferring into Brite tanks, and solid general housekeeping practices in collaboration with assistant brewers.
    •Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    •Yeast handling, including laboratory cell counts, pitching, and cropping yeast. •Monitor fermentations including routine analysis of in-process beer.
    • Filter operation.
    •Setup and tear-down of hard and soft piping assemblies.
    •Carbonate beer and prepare for it for Packaging
    • Work on the canning line and maintain levels of QC/QA requirements as set by Mill Creek
    Clean and Fill Kegs
    Operate various functions of packaging line
    •Continual lifting, dragging, carrying, and manipulating of hoses, parts, pumps, buckets, and reservoirs, requiring standing, walking, crouching, and lifting regularly throughout the duration of shift
    •Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment and infrastructure in collaboration with assistant brewers and maintenance staff.
    Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. Position is designed with growth toward a position on our brewing team.

    MATERIALS/MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:
    •Computer and other process automation systems.
    •Brewing raw materials; including water, hops, malt, and yeast. •Cleaning and Sanitizing Chemicals
    •Pumps, hoses, valves, clamps, gaskets, and other brewery equipment •Fork lift/aerial lift truck.
    IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    •Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards. •Attention to detail.
    •Strong mechanical aptitude.
    •Ability to manage multiple processes at one time.
    •Self-motivated with good time management skills.
    •Ability to coordinate with other departments according to schedule.

    •Ability to effectively communicate with staff throughout the brewery.
    •Work off shifts including weekends and holidays.
    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
    •Experience and Understanding of Brewing Process. •Bachelor’s degree in



    Engineering, Food Science or related scientific field of study preferred.
    •1-5 years commercial brewing experience strongly preferred.
    •Demonstrated work history that supports production or team oriented employment. •Skills in statistical analysis and production software.
    •Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) required. •Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required. •Outstanding communication and problem solving skills.

    •Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.*
    •Must be able to participate in critical assessment of beers.*

    •The work environment is usually that of a brewery.
    •The employee regularly works with hazardous materials.
    •The employee works on wet floors and with wet equipment.
    •The employee regularly works around high voltage, hot water, and steam. •The employee frequently must work in a sanitary environment.
