  • Wy 1007 in unitanks

Has anyone ever used the 1007 strain in unitanks? How good is the yeast crop? / filtration?

    Thanks in advance, Jon

    1007 works great in uni's

1007 works great in unitanks and can ferment nice and cold, too. Crops after the first harvest are moderately thick and fluffy and rarin' to go another round. I have not harvested and repitched past 8 gens, myself so I can't speak much toward mutation. It stores great outside the uni for up to two weeks when carefully harvested and stored at low pressure.

Cold conditioning for an extra week aids filtration greatly, but this is a low floccer. Also benefits in my view with a zerogel addition.

      Fining 1007

      Thanks Matt,

Have you ever tried post-fermentation finings with the 1007?

I used this yeast at two breweries with good results, harvesting. Low floccer. This yeast imho is super malty, it is a high attenuater if I remember correctly, but when switching from wlp001 to wy1007 the hops were lost completely. Beware when formulating recipes to adjust hops accordingly for this yeast. It will ferment nice and cold and is a good clean tasting yeast.

Sorry, Jon. No finings experience with this strain.
