    A co-op brewing company in Longmont, CO, is seeking a long-term Head Brewer. The co-op brewing company has found a location for operation and will be open in late 2018.

    This person will follow the expectation of beer styles and names of the Founders/Owners, but will have autonomy in formulation and brewhouse management, as well as creation of one-off and seasonal beers.

    Important note: This person will keep his/her current job, while working a relatively minimal amount of hours towards this new company, until a salary is provided.

    The co-op brewing company has established relationships with two other brewing companies to share equipment costs and fill production schedules. There is an extremely unique plan for each of the brewery companies to have exposure in a taproom together, with the co-op spirit in mind. This business model will be explained in the interview.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Management of packaging, cellar, and brew team. Making sure all processes are efficient.
    • Coordinating production and packaging schedules, collaborative recipe development and formulation.
    • Monitoring fermentation and yeast performance to ensure the best product is being produced.
    • Ordering and receiving raw materials and supplies. Organizing and maintaining accurate inventory on malt, hops, packaging materials, chemicals, etc.
    • Creation and adherence to all SOPs and safety guidelines.
    • Brewhouse and cellar operation: You must be able to jump in where needed on brewing, cellar work, packaging, and keg washing, etc.
    • Ensure regular preventative maintenance is being done on all brewery equipment- i.e. pumps, mill, motors, tank-less heaters, etc.
    • Equipment installation and repair, or finding the appropriate vendor.
    • Ensure packaging logs and governmental compliance paperwork is done properly and timely.
    • Hiring and training of future brewery staff.
    • Be prepared to fill in as staff taproom responsibilities, as needed.

    Necessary Skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency with Microsoft Office required.
    • Ability to work independently and manage your time and others’ efficiently.
    • Excellent beer knowledge; a good sense of smell and taste with the ability to communicate what you are sensing.
    • Be able to collaborate as a team player and have a strong desire to help create high-quality beer.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely with respect to all personnel at all levels, in addition to customers.

    Qualifications:
    • 3 years (minimum) brewing experience with at least 2 years (preferred) in a production brewery of 1500+ bbl/year.
    • Experience working in all areas of the brewery.
    • Ability to work with and train others to keep the work environment a place where everyone is valued and part of the team. EMPLOYEES FIRST.
    • Must be in good physical condition and able to maneuver in confined spaces.
    • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, and/or crouch for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able & willing to work early morning, daytime, evening and/or weekend shifts.
    • Must be able to lift 55 lbs. (malt bag) to shoulder level repeatedly and maneuver at least 165 lb. (full keg) containers safely. SAFETY FIRST (because employees are first).
