Long Valley Pub & Brewery is looking to hire an Assistant Brewer to work in conjuction with the Head Brewer. The position is for 25-30 Hours per week. We have a 7 BBL Brewhouse featured in the back of the dining room/bar area, a Copper-Plated Combi Mash/Lauter Tun & Hot Liquor Tank along with a Brew Kettle. Downstairs, we have 4-14 BBL Conical Fermenters, along with 9-7 BBL Serving Tanks, as well as Kegs for the outside Bar/Patio Area.
Optional but preferred qualities:
• 1 year of experience in a brewery environment; packaging, brewing, lab, etc
• Formal brewing education
• Beer serving and customer service experience
• Knowledge of beer styles and sensory
Required Skills and abilities:
• Ability to support day-to-day activities necessary in wort and beer production.
• Be able to lift 55lbs+ repeatedly.
• Be able to work on your feet for prolonged amounts of time.
• Have an understanding of safe work practices.
• Maintain a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Ability to accurately keep records.
• Ability to follow standard brewery operating procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Self-motivated with good time-management skills.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work space.
Tasks including but not limited to:
• Assisting on brew days (Handling grain, weighing hops, recording data, learning the brewing process)
• Keg filling and cleaning
• Tank CIP's
• Cleaning of all brewery surfaces and equipment
• Data entry and recording
• Giving brewery tours and working brewery events
