The 49th State Brewing Company is an award winning brewery with multiple breweries in both Anchorage and Denali National Park, Alaska. We're immediately hiring for an Assistant Brewer in our Denali National Park and Anchorage locations. This is a full time, year round position with opportunities to work in both locations.
Pre-requisites:
• Minimum 3 years professional brewing experience. Candidates with less than 3 years experience, but with combined brewing and/or lab experience, and/or a degree or certificate from an accredited brewing school, and/or relevant awards will be considered.
• Technical and practical knowledge of brewing, fermentation, and the finishing stage of beer production.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and long days when production levels increase as necessary.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, and understanding of mechanical systems.
• The ability to work independently
• A commitment to quality, safety, efficiency and consistency at all times
• The ability to lift 55 lbs above your head and the ability to work long periods on your feet, work at heights, crouch down, twist, turn, and work in extreme temperatures.
• An adventurous spirit and a positive attitude!
Responsibilities include:
• Execute any and all brewery operations tasks laid out by Head Brewer
• Execute all stages of beer production from wort production, transferring, filtration, centrifugation, yeast management, lab work, etc.
• Keg rotation, draft line cleaning and technical maintenance of draft lines
• Assist in monthly grain and keg inventories
• Taking of daily cellar/fermentation log readings
• Positively and professionally represent the brewery at beer festivals, including set up and break down of equipment.
• We have multiple brewing locations and brewers may be required to fill in at other brewing facilities than their own from time to time. In such a case, transportation, meals and housing will be provided when away from home.
Compensation for Starting Assistant Brewers:
• Salary starts at $15/hr.
• A shift meal is provided.
• Flight to Alaska or a portion of moving expenses to Alaska are negotiable for the right candidate.
