Head brewer position - La Mesa, CA

We are Fourpenny House, the country's only Scottish brewpub. Our brand identity is heritage, harvest, and heart, and our brewery works in tandem with an incredible kitchen and bar to deliver the highest quality food and beverage to our guests. We are looking for a head brewer to run the entire brewing operation of our small brewhouse, from stem to stern, and have complete responsibility and oversight for brewing production and operations. Head Brewer

Job Requirements:
-Solution centered
-Mechanically inclined
-Design and keep to a brewing production schedule
-Keep up inventory of house made beer to influence brewing schedule
-Maintenance and upkeep of all equipment
-Ordering of raw materials from vendors
-Be able to test for and identify off flavors and infections
-Thorough knowledge of beer styles and pairing recommendations
-Strong knowledge of recipe creation
-Be creative and collaborative (work with owner and the chef to design new beers)
-Work with all aspects of cleaning and cellaring

Preferred:
-Good working relationship with the San Diego brewing community
-Public speaking skills (be able to speak about our products at in-house and out-of-house events)

Physical requirements:
-The ability to lift 50lbs
-The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
-The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
-The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds
-The ability to work in extreme temperatures
-The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
