Bright Penny Brewing Company, located in Mebane, North Carolina, is in search of a Brewer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in commercial production to help us launch our brewery. Our ideal candidate is an assistant brewer or brewer that is looking for creative control from day one with ownership potential. Key Responsibilities
• Recipe creation and inventory management to allow for uninterrupted supply in taproom and to outside customers
• Maintain proficiency in all production areas: brewhouse, cellar, and packaging
• Load raw materials and process aids in the product at various production stages.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work area.
• Set up hoses, fittings, and clamps as required for production and cleaning operations.
• Development of operational SOPs
• Perform production operations and sanitation practices with strict adherence to SOP’s
• Perform basic maintenance task on pumps, valves, tanks, and process equipment.
• Embrace a process of and opportunities for continual improvement.
• Work week is based on a 40-hour schedule. Due to production needs, incidental overtime may be required.
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship
• 1-2 years of commercial production experience. (Brewers with an appropriate combination of experience and education will be evaluated)
• Candidate must have good computer skills and be proficient in Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to smoothly handle multiple demands and rapid change
• Ability to operate with minimal supervision
• Skilled in thinking critically and problem solving
• Willingness to fill in other job duties as necessary
• Must be a team player
- Four-year degree, preferably in Fermentation Sciences, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related area is a plus
- Brewing Diploma is a plus
Physical Requirements:
Candidate should be able to lift at least 55 lbs. from ground level and should also be able to move 165 lbs. of kegged beer from one location to another. Physically capable of standing for long periods of time and able to kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.

Bright Penny Brewing will be opening in December of 2018 with a 10 BBL system from ABS Commercial in 2,300 sf of dedicated production space. Ideally located just two miles off Interstate 40 between Raleigh-Durham and Greensboro, Bright Penny Brewing will be an anchor location for downtown Mebane. Mebane is a thriving, diverse community which has created a strong economy. Located in the original Purina Feed Mill, the building is situated near neighborhoods, a community recreation center and park, and growing global and local businesses with easy access for pedestrian traffic from downtown. Bright Penny Brewing will also have a restaurant concept.
