Cedar Run Brewery is a farm brewery in Nokesville, Virginia. It occupies 10 acres on a 97-acre farm. It currently includes a hop yard with over 200 bines (applicant is welcome to assist with hop yard maintenance, but is not required to). The brewery features three 15 BBL fermenters as well as both geothermal and traditional methods for maintaining temperature.
Brewery construction is nearing completion and we are ready to begin recipe formulation. Our target open date is early spring 2019.
We are looking for someone with head brewer experience or who has worked at an established brewery and is ready to make the leap to the next level. Applicant must have strong communication skills and be able to work independently.
This is a full-time job. From your experience you know that long days are required at times. We want to maintain the brewery as our passion and not our life, and will help you to do the same.
Position Responsibilities
• Source and order raw materials/ingredients
• Recipe development and cost analysis
• Setting, hitting and maintaining a production schedule
• Ensuring all equipment and finished product is safe and sanitary
• Light equipment maintenance
• Water management and analysis
• Transfer and carbonation of product
• Meeting budgets and controlling costs
• Identify inefficiencies in our brewing process and proposing solutions
• Yeast propagation and management
• Daily quality control checks
• Experience with record keeping for tax purposes
We offer compensation commensurate with experience. Insurance is also available.
