Summary:
The Cayman Islands Brewery, the only brewery on the Cayman Islands has 10 products in multiple SKU’s.
The Head Brewer / Quality Control is responsible for the beer production process and day-to-day operations of the brewery. It is a high-level role which can involve many different tasks including managing 2 other brewers, purchasing raw materials, monthly and weekly production planning, creating new types of beers, ensuring the highest possible quality and managing resources.
Description:
Fulfill duties with all aspects of the brewery operations which include:
• Supervision of 2 shift brewers
• Raw Material inventory management and ordering
• Management of lab consumables
• Creating monthly production schedules based on projected sales
• Daily quality checks of beers in fermentation
• Quality checks of beers being packaged throughout the run
• Micro biological testing of tanks
• Operation of a DE filter
• Weekly QC checks
• Creation and Management of lab budget
• Capital investment projects
• Troubleshooting problems in the brewhouse and filtration
• Constantly looking for ways to improve quality and operation efficiencies
• Recipe Development
• Representing the company at events
• Covering Brew shifts
• Some weekend work required
• Identify savings, reduce waste and build an environment sustainability program
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as required
Qualifications
• Well versed in brewing sciences
• Formal brewing education or practical experience (5+ years)
• Knowledge and practical experience of brewing and packaging processes preferred
Knowledge & Experience
• Operating an automated brew house
• Operating a DE filter
• Good micro-biological testing procedures
• The ability to work logically and systematically, with good time management;
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to think laterally whilst offering creative solutions;
• The ability to work with people at different levels;
• IT literacy and the ability to handle electronic data;
• Flexibility and the ability to manage change;
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Able to lift 55Lbs repeatedly and able to lift at least 160lbs
• A positive attitude to continued learning.
• Possess a strong enthusiasm towards brewing beer.
• Laboratory skills
• Ability to lead in a team-based environment
• Strong planning and organizing skills
