Stellwagen Beer Company in Marshfield, MA is looking to hire an assistant brewer Cellar/Packaging member to our team. We are a company that is rapidly growing and this position will fill our need to keep up with that demand. The individual considered for this position must have a strong work ethic and be able to self-manage time efficiency. Candidates will also need to be able to demonstrate a desire to learn and grow within the brewing industry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 1+ years working in a production brewery environment
• Previous packaging (canning) experience preferred
• Understanding of fermentation science and the elements of brewing
• Must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the brewing process
• Understanding of brewing equipment and how to properly maintain and use
• Must be able to follow SOPs set by the Head Brewer in all facets of the brewery
• Attention to detail and strong sense of cleanliness
• Familiar with CIP/SIP processes
• Ability to multi-task and maximize efficiency
• Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards
• Ability to communicate and work well with a diverse team
• Brewing Education is a plus
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• CIP/Sanitation of fermenters, brite tanks, and the rest of the brewhouse
• Cellar work including beer transfers, dry-hopping, fruit additions and carbonating (all cellar work to be completed with an eye for low DO levels)
• Monitor fermentations including routine analysis of in-process beer
• Assist in brew preparation (milling grain, setting up fermenter, etc.)
• Cleaning kegs and kegging finished beer
• Set up and break down of canning line and brewing equipment
• Maintain a clean cellar and quality standards in all areas of the brewery
• Can follow Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs)
• Available to assist in all areas of the brewery
• Continual lifting, dragging, carrying, and manipulating of hoses, parts, pumps, buckets, and reservoirs, requiring standing, walking, crouching, and lifting regularly throughout the duration of shift
• Cleans, sanitizes, and purges tanks according to set standards
• Assist in brew preparation (milling grain, setting up fermenter, etc.)
• Ensures work area is clean and well organized
• Ensures tank exteriors are cleaned regularly
• Follows safety procedures and wears PPE
• Performs other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs./move 165lbs. is required.
• Willingness to work on and around potentially dangerous equipment is required.
• Willingness to work with strong cleaning agents is required.
• Willingness to work in an environment with high noise levels is required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of recipes, processes, procedures, and other internal information
