Breakside Brewery is looking for an eager and hardworking individual to join our staff in the warehousing and logistics department.Breakside is a rapidly-growing, award-winning brewery in Portland, Oregon. In 2018, we produced 28,500 barrels and plan to produce 30,000 barrels in 2018 and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing, tightly-knit team of brewers at a well regarded brewery, in the greatest beer city in the world.
This position will be at our Milwaukie brewery, and it will be focused on warehousing, shipping/receiving, and logistics. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, quick to learn our SOPs, uphold rigorous inventory, sanitation, and safety standards in the brewery, and follow direction very well.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with little brewery experience to get an entry into the craft beer industry. We are looking for someone with tremendous enthusiasm, energy and a strong work ethic. As with all of our staff, we will seek a candidate who can fulfill these job responsibilities in the short term and who looks to take on more responsibilities with the company over time.

This position reports to the Warehouse Manager.

Tentative start date for this position is June 11. This position requires weekend work (Sat and/or Sun), as well as frequent ‘early open’ (6 AM start) or ‘late close’ (~11 PM finish) shifts.

Core Responsibilities
Assist with all warehouse operations, including shipping/receiving, inventory management, deliveries, stock organization, cooperage handling, fulfillment and record keeping.
Assist with some cellar operations in the brewery, specifically keg washing and packaging
Implement and contribute to internal logistics systems, including management of raw materials and finished goods
Light maintenance and repair work under the direction of more senior warehouse staff
Utility work: cleaning parts, floors, and other brewery equipment as instructed
Shuttling beer, kegs, raw materials and other equipment between our three breweries
Driving the company van
Loading and unloading wholesalers and suppliers; receiving and shipping
Detail-driven record keeping using our resource management software (EKOS)
Public tours, education, tastings and interaction with brewery guests

Minimum Qualifications
6-12 months previous experience in a warehouse; familiarity with industry-wide inventory, shipping and receiving practices.
6-12 months previous experience in a brewery, winery, distillery or other food production plant; experience in a production brewery preferred.
Certified forklift training and extensive forklift driving experience. Strong preference given to candidates with work experience that has required multiple hours of daily forklift work.
Experience working in an industrial environment with accompanying hazards and strong knowledge of basic safety precautions and practices
Clean driving record
Ability to follow SOPs
Strong ability to multi-task
Strong oral and written communication skills, including familiarity with Google Drive
A passion for craft beer, with a dedication to our core values and beliefs
Mechanical aptitude; skilled with basic machine troubleshooting and repair

Physical Requirements Include:
• Ability to lift 60 pounds and move 165 pounds safely.
• Ability to work in a wet environment with humidity, steam, and heat.
• Ability to bend, twist, kneel, climb stairs often.
• Manual dexterity.
• Endurance to work long shifts when needed.

Hourly wage will depend on experience and will be competitive with industry standards. Increased pay will be commensurate to performance.
